Up to 31 people were rescued from a Turkish ship that was burning while on a voyage in the Black Sea, off the coast of Russia, Russian official sources said Friday.

Interfax news agency quoted a source from the Emergency Ministry as saying Russia rescue teams had evacuated the sailors from the burning ship.

Several Russian ships participated in putting out the fire and the Turkish ship is now being towed in, the source added.

The ship, Boztepe, is 108 meters long and 16 meters wide, weighing 2,491 tons. It was on a voyage from Turkey to Russia.
