Russian-Turkish venture revises offer in nuclear plant tender

Turkish Electricity Trading & Contracting Inc. (TETAS) Director General Haci Duran Gokkaya said that the Russian-Turkish JSC Atomstroyexport-JSC Inter Raoues-Park Teknik joint venture revised its offer as 15.35 cent per kilowatt-hour in the tender for construction and operation of Turkey's first nuclear power plant.

The joint venture, earlier, offered 21.16 cent per kilowatt-hour, but decided to revise its offer in favor of the public.

The new offer will be assessed by Turkey's Atomic Energy Agency (TAEK) in terms of technical requirements.

TETAS launched the tender process on March 24, 2008 for the construction and operation of a nuclear power plant in Akkuyu region of the southern province of Mersin.

AECL Atomic Energy Of Canada Limited (Canada), Suez Tractebel (France-Belgium), Unit Investment N.V. (the Netherlands), Hattat Holding-Hema Consortium (Turkey) and Ak Enerji (Turkey) also submitted their sealed envelopes, but only the JSC Atomstroyexport-JSC Inter Raoues-Park Teknik made an offer.
