French President Nicolas Sarkozy offered his condolences over the terrorist attack in Istanbul that killed 17 and wounded scores in a twin bombing in Istanbul, French Embassy in Ankara said in a statement on Tuesday.
The embassy said that Sarkozy sent letters of condolences to Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Sarkozy said France stands together with Turkey and fully supports Turkey's efforts on the fight against terrorism, it said.
Australia was another country to condemn the attack.
"On behalf of the Australian government, I offer my deepest sympathies to the families of those killed and injured," Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said in a statement.
"Australia maintains its resolve to work with Turkey and the rest of the international community in defeating terrorism wherever it occurs. Australia and Turkey share a Memorandum of Understanding on counter terrorism, and the Australian government values Turkey's strong commitment to counter terrorism," he said.
