Saudi King not to attend Arab summit in Damascus
Saudi Arabia's permanent representative at the Arab League said on Monday he would represent his country at this week's Arab summit in Damascus, meaning influencial King Abdullah would be staying away.

"I will head Saudi Arabia's delegation to the summit," Ahmad bin Abdelaziz Qattan told reporters after a meeting of Arab League representatives in the Syrian capital.

The announcement confirmed fears that Lebanon's political crisis would hit the level of turnout at the summit and undermine the annual meeting.
