Saudi official avoided to sit at the same panel with Israel's Ayalon who is notorious for insulting Turkish ambassador in Tel Aviv.

The Saudi reaction to the snub on Saturday came during the Munich Security Conference that Turkish FM Ahmet Davutoglu also attended.

Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon who summoned Oguz Celikkol to express Israel's uneasiness over a Turkish TV-series showing Israeli agents kidnapping a child, had Turkish envoy sit at a lower armchair in front of a table with only the Israeli flag on it, denying him an handshake in front of the press.

In the event, the panel was split into two sessions, the first featuring Saudi Arabia's Prince Turki al-Faisal, Egyptian diplomat Hossam Zaki and Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and a second with Ayalon, Russian academic Igor Yurgens and U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman.

In the subsequent question and answer session, Saudi Arabia's Prince Turki al-Faisal said "it was due to Ayalon's boorish behaviour with Turkey's envoy, not because you are the Deputy Foreign Minister of Israel."

Ayalon began his talk in the panel saying "it appeared a representative of a country with a lot of oil had pressed the organisers to separate the panel because he did not want to sit with us."

Ayalon hinted Saudi Prince did not sit at the same panel beacuse he is an Israeli, saying "If indeed it was not that, I would welcome him to shake my outstetched hand."

Ayalon descended from the podium and shook Turki's hands.

Ayalon's snub violating all diplomatic manners drew strong reaction from Turkish officials, and strained relations to the pointof breaking.

The diplomatic crisis ended when Israel had to apologise with a letter after repeated calls from Turkey which warned otherwise that it would withdraw its ambassador.
