Torrential rains killed seven people throughout Turkey on Tuesday.

Flood, triggered by torrential rains, killed six people in the northwestern province of Tekirdag, and one person in Istanbul.

Seven people were dragged by flood in Tekirdag's Saray town, and bodies of six of them were found, governor Zubeyir Kemelek said.

"Efforts are under way to find the other missing person," the governor said.

Also, Kemelek said that bodies of two other people were discovered some 100 meters away from their house in Bahcekoy hamlet.

Istanbul was another northwestern province that was negatively affected by torrential rains and flood.

"One person died of heart attack as his house was inundated by flood in Silivri," Istanbul Governor Muammer Guler said.

Guler said almost 50 vehicles were drifted to the sea in Silivri, and search and rescue efforts were under way.

"A mother and her two daughters were among those who were in one of these vehicles. The mother and one of the daughters could save themselves, however the other girl is still missing," he said.

Also, one person was reported missing in Istanbul's Catalca town.

Torrential rains also delayed a hearing of the second "Ergenekon" case which is being heard in flood-hit Silivri town. The next hearing of the case will be on September 14.

Also, torrential rains caused financial damages in northwest Turkey. Twenty houses were damaged, and two bridges were demolished on Bahcekoy-Saray highway. At least six houses and some vehicles were inundated by flood in Gungormez village.

More than 100 houses and workplaces were flooded in Istanbul's Silivri, Catalca, Kucukcekmece, Avcilar, Kartal, Pendik and Tuzla neighborhoods.

The western province of Canakkale was another flood-stricken area. Brooks overflowed due to torrential rains, inundating houses and agricultural fields in this province.

Meteorology officials said that torrential rains would continue on Tuesday evening.
