Head of the Arab Interim Parliament (AIP) Mohammad Al-Saqer called on the UN, US, Arab League, and the GCC to take serious action to end Israel's provocative action, namely its intent to build 20,000 new settlement housing units in Jerusalem.

This came in written letters Al-Saqer sent to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa, GCC Secretary General Abdulrahman Al-Attiyah, and UN Human Rights Council Commissioner.

In his letters, the parliamentarian stressed the importance of taking a forceful stance to make Israel commit to UN Security Council resolutions, the Geneva Conventions of 1949, and human rights charters.

He also called on parliaments to support efforts for justice and peace in the Middle East in line with the Arab peace initiative, saying Israel continued to obstruct peace efforts with its actions.
