At least three people died and 10 others were missing after a violent rain hit Poland's lake district on Tuesday, the PAP news agency reported.
About 40 boats and kayaks capsized in the sudden storm, which hit Masurian Lake district in northern Poland with strong winds Tuesday afternoon.
Rescuers have retrieved three bodies of the victims, including a five-year-old child and a 50-year-old woman. The death toll is expected to increase.
The rescue work, which now had to be suspended due to the nightfall, will be resumed on Wednesday morning.
Masurian Lake District, also known as the "land of a thousand lakes," is a famous tourist attraction in Poland.
