Unidentified men stabbed Iraqi television drama director Ibrahim, 58, to death outside his office in the Syrian capital Damascus Saturday and escaped.
An investigation was underway to capture the other perpetrators, the source added.
Primary investigation revealed revenge was behind the crime.
Ibrahim was born in Basra province, 590 kilometres south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. He was living in Damascus for many years.
The Iraqi director, who studied in Moscow, directed several TV series for a number of Arab TV stations. He recently directed works about Iraq's current affairs.

Suspected killer of Iraqi television director arrested in Damascus
Syrian security forces arrested Monday one of the suspected murderers of Iraqi television director Adnan Ibrahim, an interior ministry source said.
