Syria state security court orders seven people to prison
Syrian state security court condemned on Sunday seven people to prison for instigating hostility toward the country with sentences varying from five to seven years. Another suspect was acquitted from same accusations.

A Syrian human rights organization issued a statement condemning the prison terms and called for a regular court to handle their case, noting at the same time that such terms were based on an exceptional court which was established according to the emergency Syrian system, ongoing for more than 44 years.

The statement called on the Syrian authorities to apply resolution 18 and 22 of the international accord for human and civilian rights which Syria joined in 1969.
