Syrian FM to visit Tehran Monday for NAM meeting
Syrian Foreign Minister Waleed Al-Muallem will head to Tehran on Monday to participate in the foreign ministers' meeting of the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and to prepare for the upcoming summit of the Syrian and Iranian leaders in Tehran, according to a local newspaper.

"Al-Watan" said Sunday that Al-Muallem would be holding talks with Iranian officials on the sidelines of the NAM meeting, building upon deliberations he held last week in Damascus with his Iranian counterpart Manuchehr Motaki over Tehran's nuclear program.

Kuwaiti news agency said it added that Al-Muallem's visit was also to prepare for the Syrian-Iranian leaders' summit, which would take place before French President Nicolas Sarkozy's scheduled visit to Syria in September.
