Turkey's Energy and Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler said Saturday "the number of energy investors in Turkey reached 3,000."
Speaking at a panel discussion titled "Where are we in energy?" in Ankara, Guler said that "with the new Electric Market Law, everyone would become an investor in Turkey."
"Turkey previously had only 5-6 energy investors," Guler said.
"Turkey used to rank 32nd out of 32 global countries in utilizing wind energy. Turkey currently ranks 12th as a country that uses wind energy. Turkey would become the number 1 or 2 country as a user of wind energy," Guler said.
"Turkey is taking giant steps in utilizing wind energy," Guler said.
Touching on energy aid made to the economically disadvantaged in Turkey, Guler said that the "Turkish government distributed eight million tonnes of coal to the people."
Guler added that the "year 2009 would be the year of oil exploration in the Black Sea region."
