Three ministers head to Turkey-EU meeting in Brussels

Three Turkish ministers left for Brussels on Sunday to attend an intergovernmental conference which will be held to open environment chapter in Turkey's EU accession talks.

State Minister & Chief Negotiator for EU talks Egemen Bagis, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Environment & Forestry Minister Veysel Eroglu departed for Brussels to participate in the conference.

European Council's Committee of Permanent Representatives earlier gave a green light to Turkey on opening of the policy chapter on environment on December 21.

After environment chapter is opened, Turkey would have started negotiations on 12 of 33 chapters.

The European Union suspended in 2006 the opening of eight chapters and the closing of several others due to Turkey's policy not to open Turkish ports to Greek Cypriot vessels unless an embargo on Turkish Cyprus is lifted.
