Three Turkish soldiers were killed and another was injured in a landmine blast in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir, the private CNN-Turk channel reported on Saturday.

The remote-controlled landmine planted by militants of the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) was detonated when a group of security members were passing near Balaban hamlet in Diyarbakir's Dicle town, the report said.

The injured soldier had been taken to a local military hospital for treatment.

The report added that 5,000 soldiers were deployed to crush the PKK rebels in the eastern province of Tunceli, where three soldiers were killed in a clash with the militants earlier this week.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union, has increased attacks on Turkish troops in southeastern Turkey in recent months, which provoked calls for an incursion into northern Iraq to crush the PKK.
