TOBB chairman in Iran

Rifat Hisaciklioglu, chairman of Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), who is in Iran to attend the 6th meeting of the Turkish-Iranian Business Council, met Iranian Transportation Minister Mohammad Rahmati in Tehran on Tuesday.

Rifat Hisaciklioglu, chairman of the Union of Chambers & Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) --also chairman of Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), board of directors-- who is in Iran to attend the 6th meeting of the Turkish-Iranian Business Council, met Iranian Transportation Minister Mohammad Rahmati in Tehran on Tuesday.

During the meeting Hisarciklioglu recalled that the share of Turkey's trade with its neighbours had been 6 percent (before 2002) when compared with global volume of its foreign trade, and pointed out that this rate rose recently to 35 percent. He said Turkey is eager to boost bilateral trade with its neighbours.

"While Iran is Turkey's door to the east, Turkey is Iran's door to the west," said Hisarciklioglu who noted that the two countries should provide conveniences to each other in Transportation.

Recalling that 35th IRU (International Road Transport Union) World Congress would be held in Istanbul on May 15th-16th, Hisarciklioglu invited Rahmati to assist the congress.
