Turkey, Bahrain to develop steel and cement trade

Bahrain's Industry & Commerce Minister said that it would be beneficial to sign a memorandum of understanding in cement and iron-steel sectors and to reach an understanding in area of public works to further develop the commerce between the two countries.

Turkish Industry & Trade Minister Zafer Caglayan said on Tuesday that Turkey would be an important center and base for food production.

Speaking at Turkish-Bahraini Business Forum in Ankara, Caglayan said that Turkey's doors were open to Bahraini businessmen.

Noting that there were many facilities for foreign investors in Turkey, Caglayan said that Investment Support & Promotion Agency of Turkey as well as the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) would help Bahraini businessmen who would like to invest in Turkey.

Caglayan advised Bahraini businessmen to be interested in Southeast Anatolia Project of Turkey to receive support for their investments in food, stockbreeding and agricultural areas in Turkey.

Bahrain's Industry & Commerce Minister Abdallah al-Fakhru, who also attended the forum, reminded that Turkey and Bahrain signed Economic Cooperation Agreement. He said that it would be beneficial to sign a memorandum of understanding in cement and iron-steel sectors and to reach an understanding in area of public works to further develop the commerce between the two countries.

Al-Fakhru said that he would do his best to let Bahraini businessmen invest in Turkey as well as Turkish businessmen invest in Bahrain.

Following the speeches, Bahrain's Industry & Commerce Ministry and Turkish Iron & Steel Producers' Association signed two memoranda to develop steel and cement trade.
