Turkey begins privatization of 25 sugar factories
Turkey's Privatization Administration Board is getting ready to initiate the process for privatization of sugar factories in August.

In an exclusive interview with the A.A, Metin Kilci said on Friday, "the Council of State invalidated earlier decision made by the Privatization Administration Board on sale of sugar factories. Now, we will make a new decision taking into consideration the reasoned verdict of the Council of State. Then, privatization of sugar factories will begin in August."

"We will privatize 25 factories as six separate portfolio groups according to their geographical criteria and their proximity to each other. Privatization of all sugar factories will have begun within six months. Both Turkish and foreign investors are interested in privatization of sugar factories," he said.

Kilci said that the privatization process for Turkey's state-owned National Lottery (Milli Piyango) would also begin in the coming weeks.

"We have not yet made an exact decision about the method and the duration. But we plan to use the method of granting a ten-year licence in the privatization of the National Lottery," he said.

Kilci said that the draft about privatization of bridges and highways had not been enacted by the parliament.
