Turkish flour producers increased exports by 50 percent after entering the markets in south of the African continent.

Central Anatolian Flour Industrialists' Association Chairman Rifat Hekimoglu told AA on Tuesday that Turkey's flour exports rose by 50 percent in 2009 when compared to 2008.

Hekimoglu noted that there were nearly 800 flour producers in Turkey, and 70 of them were from central Anatolian province of Konya which met 10 percent of country's flour need.

Turkey exported flour to 80 countries including Madagascar, New Guinea, Yemen, Sudan, Azerbaijan and Angola, Hekimoglu said and added that after flour producers entered the markets in south of Africa, flour exports increased from 1.2 million tons (in 2008) to 1.8 million tons (in 2009).
