Turkey calls on all parties to restore peace in Sudan
UN Secretary General special representative to Sudan Ashraf Qazi visited to Turkey o December 16 and 17.
Turkey called on all related parties to be more aspirant to resolve Darfur crisis and restore peace in Sudan.
Burak Ozugergin, spokesman of Turkish ministry of foreign affairs, responded to a question about the visit of UN Secretary General special representative to Sudan Ashraf Qazi to Turkey on December 16 and 17.
Ozugergin said Qazi was received by Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Foreign Minister Ali Babacan and Political Affairs Deputy Undersecretary Unal Cevikoz during his stay in Ankara.
"Turkey gives high importance to Sudan's independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity. Turkey continues to cooperate with international society to contribute to peace, stability and welfare in Sudan. Turkey believes that all related parties should abide by implementation of Comprehensive Peace Agreement that draws an important framework for peace and stability in Sudan," Ozugergin said.
Ozugergin said Turkey, which has become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and a strategic partner of African Union, would continue to show a special interest in regional problems including the developments in Africa.
