Turkey, Djibouti share joint will to create strategic partnership

Turkish President Abdullah Gul has hosted a banquet in honor of President Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti, who is currently paying a state visit to Turkey.

Speaking at the banquet, President Guelleh of Djibouti said that Turkey and Djibouti pursued the same principles with the aim of ensuring economic and political stability, security and peace in their own regions.

He said that his visit was a sign of a joint will to create a Turkish-Djiboutian strategic partnership.

President Gul, on his part, said, "this is the first visit between Turkey and Djibouti on the level of heads of state. Therefore, President Guelleh's visit to Turkey will be a milestone in the bilateral relations between our countries. This visit will also add a momentum to our cooperation."

President Gul said that both countries had the potential to cooperate in many areas from economy to trade, from defense industry to culture and education.

"We attach great importance to improve our relations with African nations. We, as Turkey, try to do our utmost to put an end to problems such as poverty, epidemics and natural disasters and to strengthen values like democracy, human rights and gender equality in Africa. We will continue extending support to African nations in their transformation process," President Gul added.
