Turkey's government is not planning to revise its 4 percent official economic growth target for 2009, Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan said on Tuesday.

Turkey's gross domestic product growth fell sharply to 0.5 percent in the third quarter as the global credit crisis dents consumer demand and exports.

"We have just set the growth target. We are not considering a change in our target. We do not have such a plan but we will see what the coming days will show," Unakitan told a news conference.

He said there was no change in the budget revenues target in the 2009 budget.

The Turkish economy expanded by nearly 7 percent in the last six years on average.

The World Bank said earlier this month it expected something between a slight contraction to growth of 2 percent in 2009.
