Turkey earns 35 mln TL from bridges, highways in 2009

Turkey earned 35 million Turkish liras from bridges and toll highways in the first month of 2009, the General Directorate of Highways said.

Turkey earned 35 million Turkish liras (TL) from bridges and toll highways in the first month of 2009, the General Directorate of Highways said on Sunday. (One USD is equal to 1.6500 TL)

Turkey earned some 35.4 million TL from the bridges on the Bosphorus and toll
highways in January 2009, according to figures of the directorate.

The toll collected from Istanbul's Bogazici and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges was 12.1 million TL.

Turkey collected some 23.2 million TL from highways.

Around 11.6 million vehicles passed through bridges, and 12.2 million vehicles used toll highways.

Turkey earned 495 million TL from bridges and toll highways in 2008, and is expected to raise this income to 600 million TL by the end of this year.
