Turkey expects no surprise in EP report discussion

Turkish State Minister and Chief Negotiator for EU talks Egemen Bagis said the European Parliament (EP) General Assembly would discuss the Turkey report on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters at Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport prior to his departure for the Czech Republic, Bagis said that Turkey expected the general assembly to approve that report.

"We do not expect a surprise from the EP regarding the Turkey report," Bagis said.

Bagis said that a group of Turkish officials and he would visit the Czech Republic, which currently holds the EU presidency, and meet with Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek and other Czech authorities.

Bagis also said that he would meet with Czech and Turkish businessmen over breakfast at the residence of the Turkish Embassy in Prague that will be organized by the Foreign Economic Relations Board.

Turkish National Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul and I will attend a meeting together in Prague, Bagis said.

Gonul will attend the Defense Ministers Troika Meeting in Prague.
