Turkish state minister said on Thursday that Turkey was expected to attract nearly 20 billion U.S. dollars of foreign capital this year.
State Minister Kursad Tuzmen replied to questions of the A.A correspondent at an opening ceremony in Ankara.
Turkey was a safe haven for foreign investments, he said.
"Unemployment is one of the most important problems of Turkey. We attach a great importance to foreign investments for solution of this problem. That's why we are working really hard to attract more foreign capital," he stated.
Turkey had attracted foreign investments worth 40 billion U.S. dollars in the past two years and it would probably amount to 20 billion U.S. dollars this year -- most of which would come to Turkey in the second half of 2009 -- , Tuzmen said.
