Turkey hopes to see pro-peace government in Israel: FM

Turkey's Foreign Minister Ali Babacan said Friday that they hoped to see a pro-peace government in Israel.

Babacan who paid a one-day visit to Lithuania, spoke to reporters on nomination of Benjamin Netenyahu as Premier in Israel.

Answering a question on whether Netenyahu's nomination meant the end of hope for peace in the region, Babacan said it may not necessarily mean so. "Political parties' actual policies after coming to power may differ from their election campaigns," he added.

"Therefore, we are closely watching the developments in Israel. What kind of a coalition will be formed? Which parties will be involved? There is no doubt that these are important. But what really matters is what sort of policies they will pursue once they come to power," said Babacan.
