Turkey participates in an international exhibition featuring special forces equipment and solutions in Jordan.


Twenty companies are representing Turkey at the Seventh Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference (SOFEX-2008) in Jordanian capital of Amman.



Bringing together the world's leading counter terrorism and homeland security manufacturers with high-ranking defense officials and government decision makers, SOFEX is a unique global gathering for showcasing the latest counter terrorism and homeland security solutions to combat today's ever increasing security challenges.

"We are seeking cooperation opportunities," Murad Bayar, Turkey's defense industry undersecretary, told reporters.

"We have fairly good expectations and we have drawn pretty good interest here," he also said.

King Abdullah of Jordan paid a short visit to Turkish stand after the inauguration ceremony.

Aselsan, TAI, Anel, BMC, Havelsan and Roketsan are among the Turkish firms displaying their products at the exhibition that will stay open till Thursday.

There are about 200 defense industry firms in Turkey with a turnover of 2.5 billion USD. The industry has an export of 500 million USD p.a., and spends 100 million USD on R&D.
