Turkey, Kuwait set up technical body for health coop

Kuwait news agency KUNA reported Turkish and Kuwaiti officials agreed Wednesday to set up a technical body which includes representatives of the two health ministries to oversee and follow up on implementation of the items of the health cooperation agreement the two countries signed last February.

The Turkish Health Minister, Recep Akdag, in a joint press conference with counterpart Abdulla Al-Taweel after a closed meeting of representatives of the two ministries, said Turkey is keen on cooperation with Kuwait and the current visit is continuation of efforts started during the visit by the Kuwaiti Amir to Turkey last week and the talks held last February.

He noted the meetings discussed encouragement of the Kuwaiti private sector to invest in the health sector in Turkey, and noted health services in Kuwait provided by high quality service providers and through many specialized facilities.

Turkey, he pointed out, is implementing many changes and reforms in the health care sector.

Meanwhile, Kuwaiti Health Minister Abdulla Al-Taweel said Kuwait is focusing on seven items for cooperation, topped by training for Kuwaiti medical staff, care for Kuwaiti patients in Turkey, and exchange of expertise in the field of health care.

He said the two sides agreed to specify priorities through a joint team of experts which is to meet soon.
