Turkey not to send combat troops to Afghan.
Turkey's President Abdullah Gul said Wednesday Turkey has no intention to deploy combat troops in Afghanistan.

"Turkey is closely interested in Afghanistan but we have no intention of sending combat troops," Gul told reporters in Ankara's Esenboga Airport before leaving for Romania to attend a NATO summit.

NATO heads of state and government will convene in Romanian capital Bucharest for a summit that will focus on enlargement of the defense organization, as well as relations with Georgia and Ukraine, policies in the Balkans and NATO missions in Afghanistan and Kosovo.

NATO meeting will also discuss terrorism, cyber-defense and missile shield projects.

Asked about missile shield deployment in Turkey, Gul said "our thesis is clear and based on the concept of indivisibility in defense and security."
