Turkey pardoned sentence of former banned leader
Turkish President Abdullah Gul on Tuesday pardoned remaining sentence of Necmettin Erbakan, the former leader of the banned Welfare Party (RP), because of "continious disease".

According to a written statement by Presidential Press Center, Erbakan's condition did not permit to continue his sentence.

Ankara Criminal Court earlier ruled that Erbakan could serve out his 2 years 4 months imprisonment sentence given in the case publicly known as "missing trillions" in his domicile.

Erbakan started to serve the sentence on May 26th, 2008.

Erbakan was accused of fraud of falsifying party records to hide RP's cash that were ordered to be seized after his party was disbanded.
