FROM ERDOGAN TO BAYDEMIR: LEAVE ASIDE THE WORDS, START TO WORK

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan reacted harshly against Diyarbakir Mayor Osman Baydemir during Justice and Development (AK) Party Group meeting. "Local administrators should work instead of speaking. We made 5 billion YTL investment in the East and Southeast. It is injustice to ignore this," Erdogan said.

COMMANDERS NOT TO ATTEND THE RECEPTION

Chief of General Staff Gen. Yasar Buyukanit and force commanders will not attend the reception that will be hosted by President Abdullah Gul today because they will be visiting army commands. President's office was informed about this apology, however the date could not be changed because of the recess in the Parliament.

BASE FROM CHINA TO FOUR CITIES

Turkey starts to have a rooted strategy change in its economic relations with China. China decided to establish "investment base" in four cities, namely Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and Mersin.

Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Yasar Buyukanit as well as commanders of forces showed excuse, thus they will not attend the reception which will be hosted by President Abdullah Gul at Cankaya Presidential Palace today. Commanders, before the reception, conveyed Gul that they would not be in Ankara due to some military activities.

THERE IS A WATER FAR AWAY

Water level in Camlidere Dam --which provides water of Ankara-- dropped to 10 percent. On the other hand, Kilickaya Dam in central Anatolian city of Sivas is full. There is 1.3 billion cubic meters of water in Kilickaya Dam. While western parts of Turkey are suffering from water shortage, water level in dams in eastern parts is 80-90 percent. According to scientists, this imbalanced situation stems not only from global warming and drought, but also from unplanned use of water.

FATAL SHIPYARD


Workers have rioted when 5 workers died over the past 12 days in accidents in Tuzla shipyard where luxurious yachtes and ships are built. Labor union said at least one deadly work accident occurs every month in Tuzla shipyard, but they were all kept secret. Led by the union, workers marched on Saturday to protest the accidents.

"MY ADDRESSEE IS PEOPLE"

PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan said it as an answer to Diyarbakir Mayor Osman Baydemir, who challenged him. "We have never had problems with our people, we will never have. Local administrators should produce work instead of words," Erdogan said. He said they do not make any distinctions in demands of people, who voted for his party or for another party.

SABAH-ATV 1.1 BLN USD

Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) has announced that it will hold a tender on November 7th to sell Sabah newspaper and ATV channel. Minimum price of these media corporations will be 1.1 billion USD. Dogan and Cukurova, two leading media groups, will not be able to bid for Sabah and ATV.

EXCUSE OF SOLDIERS: WE ARE OUT OF ANKARA


Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Yasar Buyukanit as well as commanders of forces will not attend the reception which will be hosted by President Abdullah Gul at 11:00 a.m. today. Five commanders on top of Turkish Armed Forces will examine 1st army in Istanbul today.

JET INSPECTION ABOUT BAYDEMIR

Diyarbakir Chief Public Prosecutor who inspected statements of Diyarbakir Metropolitan Mayor Osman Baydemir will file a lawsuit if he is found guilty. Baydemir had criticised PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan who said they behave equally to all municipalities.

THEY DO NOT ATTEND


President Abdullah Gul decided to host two receptions after his election as president. State's senior officials were planned to be hosted at the first reception (at 11:00 a.m. today) and business, art and media world was planned to be hosted in the second reception (at 4:00 p.m.). However, the commanders can not attend the reception as they would be out of Ankara between September 5th and 7th. A general will represent Turkish Armed Forces at the reception. Republican People's Party (CHP) and Democratic Left Party (DSP) earlier decided not to attend the reception.

EFFORTS TO MEET BUSH

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Ali Babacan will travel to New York to attend UN General Assembly meetings. In case an agreement can be reached on the official contacts in Washington, Erdogan may have a chance to meet US President George Bush. However, it was also reported that efforts are underway to create a basis for a meeting of President Abdullah Gul with Bush separately.

WHO IS RIGHT REGARDING DIYARBAKIR?


According to Diyarbakir Mayor Osman Baydemir, there is negative discrimination, but PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan thinks the opposite. Baydemir told his blocked projects in a report one by one to PM Erdogan, when he went to Diyarbakir. PM Erdogan said they are the ones who made largest investments in Diyarbakir.

LI DA IN BLACK LIST

Ministry of Health could not overcome counterfeit Li Da diet pills and cancelled the licence of importer of original Li Da, which is claimed to have caused death. Meanwhile, ministry's teams checked drugstores.

RECEPTION BOYCOTTERS

Republican People's Party (CHP) and Democratic Left Party (DSP) will not participate in the President Abdullah Gul's reception at Cankaya Presidential Palace. A general will represent commanders, whose excuses are inspections at military units.
