Turkey ranked world's '15th in automotive production'
Turkish industry minister said that Turkey was ranked the 15th in the automotive production in the world despite global economic crisis.
Turkish industry minister said on Saturday that Turkey was ranked the 15th in the automotive production in the world despite global economic crisis.
Industry and Trade Minister Nihat Ergun said that exports of the automotive sector which had a significant place in Turkey's foreign trade reached 24.7 billion U.S. dollars in 2008. "This figure was the highest one in exports from the automotive sector so far," he said. The exports from the sector decreased by 31 percent in 2009 when compared to 2008, he said.
Ergun attended a meeting of the Association of Independent Industrialists and Businessmen (MUSIAD) in Kocaeli province.
"When we look at predictions of international organizations and credit rating agencies' assessment on Turkish economy, we expect that Turkey will enter into fast-growing period," he said.
Turkey was ranked the first in bus manufacturing and the second in production of light vehicle in the European Union countries, he said.
