A statement by the Turkey's foreign ministry said that Iraq would be bound by the convention in 30 days, becoming the 186th nation to be a party to the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction.
"Turkey attaches a great importance to disarmament and preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. It joins international efforts on this matter. We are glad that our neighbor Iraq became a party to the CWC," it said.
