Turkey speed up lobbying activities for Izmir's EXPO 2015 bid

The lobbying activities carried out in an effort to support Aegean province of Izmir's EXPO 2015 bid speeded up prior to the final voting to take place on March 31st.

Numerous Turkish delegations that are currently in French capital of Paris carry on with their talks with country representatives and delegates of Bureau of International Exhibitions (BIE) within this framework.

Izmir Chamber of Commerce (IZTO) chairperson Ekrem Demirtas, who has been in Paris since March 18th, said Wednesday that IZTO officials held meetings with many delegates and ambassadors between February 11th and 15th, March 3rd and 7th and March 11th and 15th.

Demirtas said the lobbying activities would continue till the voting day, during which EXPO 2015's host city would be determined.

"We held 77 talks with delegates of 66 countries over the last month. Till March 31st, we will have held more than 100 talks," Demirtas added.
