Receiving Toptan, Asadov said that "Turkey and Azerbaijan support each other in every international forum. We share the same roots. We are one nation with two states."

"Economic relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan are not at the desired level. We must work to increase mutual trade volume," Asadov said.

"We always appreciate Turkey's stance on Karabag. Azerbaijan is a strong supporter of Turkey in regard to the incidents of 1915," Asadov also said.

Toptan, on his part, said that he "feels at home in Azerbaijan. I thank Mr. Asadov for his hospitality. We are excited to see the cooperation of Turkey and Azerbaijan in all fields as one nation and two states."

"The close cooperation among Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia should be a role model for countries that have problems," Toptan also said.

Toptan said on Tuesday that Turkey supported Azerbaijan's policy regarding Upper Karabakh issue.

Toptan said that problems in Turkey-Armenia relations would not be solved before Upper Karabakh problem was settled.

He expressed hope that everybody would contribute to solution of Upper Karabakh problem.

Toptan said that Turkey wanted settlement of peace in Upper Karabakh.

Also, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received Turkish Parliament Speaker Koksal Toptan in Baku on Tuesday.

Aliyev said that there was cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan in every area. He added that relations were continuously developing and strengthening.

Aliyev said that relations between Turkish and Azerbaijani parliaments were important too, and parliament speakers of the two countries were continuously in contact.

Aliyev expressed pleasure that Toptan would also attend a meeting which would be held for the foundation anniversary of Azerbaijani parliament.

Toptan also said that Turkish businessmen attached importance to investing in Azerbaijan.
