Turkey, Syria to enlarge joint project
Turkish State Minister Nazim Ekren, who is currently in Damascus, held a joint press conference with Syrian Deputy Prime Minister Abdallah al-Dardari following the meeting held under the leadership of Syrian Premier Naji al-Utri on Sunday.

Dardari said that economic and technical cooperation would be initiated between Turkish International Cooperation & Development Agency and Syrian Planning Department. He added that this cooperation was very important for Syria.

Dardari said that regional cooperation program, which covered Aleppo (Syria), Kilis and Gaziantep (provinces of Turkey), would be enlarged, adding that they agreed that both countries would give 20 million USD each for the project in the next period.

Noting that Turkey could share its information and experience with Syria in many issues, Dardari said that Syria would cooperate with Turkish Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) Administration within that scope and implement such a project in northeastern part of Syria.

Dardari said that transportation infrastructure was very important to develop mutual trade volume between Turkey and Syria.

Dardari said that they also discussed sweeping off the zone along Turkey-Syria border from land mines, adding that Turkish side started to clear the zone, and these zones would be given to farmers.
