Turkey's Environment and Forestry Minister Veysel Eroglu said Wednesday that the Turkish private sector had applied to construct 1,461 hydroelectrical power plants to produce 65 billion kilowatts/hour energy and create an annual income of 58 billion USD for Turkey.
Speaking at a groundbreaking ceremony in Ankara for 61 hydroelectrical power plants to be built by State Hydraulic Works and private sector, Eroglu said that he was extremely excited and happy.
"We will transfer the ownership of energy investments worth 25 billion USD from the central management budget to the private sector," Eroglu said.
"We needed at least 50-60 years to realize the production of 20,000 megawatts of energy. I guess that those private companies who have applied for the construction of hydroelectrical power plants can complete 80 percent of the projects in 4-5 years," Eroglu also said.
