Turkey to compete in 12 events in Olympic Games

Sixty-eight athletes including 20 women, will vie for medal in the events of athletics, wrestling, weight-lifting, taekwondo, boxing, swimming, sailing, table tennis, archery, shooting, judo and cycling.

Turkey to compete in 12 events in Olympic Games

Turkey will compete in 12 events for the first time in its history at the 29th Summer Olympic Games that will take place in Beijing, the People's Republic of China from August 8th to 24th.

Sixty-eight athletes including 20 women, will vie for medal in the events of athletics, wrestling, weight-lifting, taekwondo, boxing, swimming, sailing, table tennis, archery, shooting, judo and cycling.

Sixteen athletes will compete in athletics, 13 in wrestling, 6 in weight-lifting, 4 in taekwondo, 5 in boxing, 11 in swimming, 6 in sailing, 2 in table tennis, 2 in archery, 1 in shooting, 1 in judo and 1 in cycling.

Turkey has won 74 medals including 36 gold, 19 silver and 19 bronze in the olympic games so far. Turkish wrestlers have won 27 gold medals and weightlifters won 8 gold medals.
