Two authorities took up the latest situation in Qandil and Mahmur camps in the north of Iraq which constitutes a milestone of the dissolution process of PKK.

Gen. Raymond Odierno, commander of the multi-national force responsible for Iraq invasion was paying a visit to the Turkish capital, Ankara, on Wednesday as the official guest of Turkish Interior Minister Besir Atalay.

Within this trilateral framework, the United States is working with the government of Turkey and the government of Iraq... to ensure cross-border security and an end to PKK terrorism," General Ray Odierno said in a written statement upon arrival.

The general stressed that "broad-based solutions" were necessary to secure an end to the fighting.

"It is important that we develop a common understanding of the root causes of violence, so we can assist in determining political, economic and security measures that will contribute to increased security and safety of the Turkish and Iraqi people," he added.

Two authorities took up the latest situation in Qandil and Mahmur camps in the north of Iraq which constitutes a milestone of the dissolution process of PKK.

Atalay and Odierno held a meeting which was participated also by Turkey's Baghdad ambassador, top military officers as well as Turkey's police and intelligence chiefs.

Turkey, Iraq and the United States have established a trilateral mechanism against PKK in the region.

The U.S. has been providing "actionable intelligence" to Turkey in Ankara's bid to finish PKK militants who stage attacks inside Turkey from their bases in Iraq's north, Anadolu news agency said.
