Turkey's foreign minister said Monday it would not accept Israeli warplanes using Turkish airspace and that Turkey had asked Israel for an explanation over evidence that its fighter jets had crossed into Turkish airspace and dropped fuel tanks near the Turkish border with Syria last week.

"For us this is a situation we cannot agree to," Ali Babacan told a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart Walid al- Moallem.
Turkish television over the weekend showed pictures of fuel tanks found last week near the border with Syria that could have been dropped by Israeli warplanes.
On Thursday Syrian authorities claimed that Israeli aircraft had entered Syrian airspace and dropped munitions in a deserted area. The Syrians claimed that they had also fired upon the Israeli fighter jets.
Al-Moallem on Monday repeated the claims.
"Israeli planes attacked Syria. They left bombs and they also left war tanks," he said.
