The General Assembly which will convene under the presidency of Parliament Speaker Koksal Toptan at 3 p.m. on August 28th, will take a 3-hour break after the 3rd round of voting of the presidential election ends.

According to sources, Gul, after casting his vote at the 3rd round of ballot, will leave the parliament "in order to complete his preparations", without waiting for the completion of the voting process.

During the oath-taking ceremony, Gul is expected to wear a dark suit, rather than a tailcoat, just like the 10th President of Turkey Ahmet Necdet Sezer.

CEREMONY AT THE PARLIAMENT

When Gul arrives at the parliament at 5.45 p.m., he will first be greeted by "the eldest deputy parliament speaker" Eyup Cenap Gulpinar at a "military ceremony". Afterwards, Gul will be greeted by Turkish Parliament Speaker Koksal Toptan.

Gul will attend the General Assembly after it is inaugurated by Toptan at 6 p.m. Accompanied by the applause of the participants, Gul will directly go to the rostrum to take oath.

After the oath-taking, the Turkish National Anthem will be sung and the presidential flag will be raised. Gul will deliver a brief address of thanks as well.

Following the completion of the ceremony, Gul will leave the parliament and pay a visit to Ataturk's Mausoleum, Anitkabir.

Gul will then proceed to the Presidential Palace in order to take over presidency from 10th President Ahmet Necdet Sezer. It was not clear yet whether there would be a ceremony at Cankaya or not, sources added.
