The biggest forest land has been lost in the fire starting in İzmir Menderes. A thousand hectares of land which was burnt down is the same size as 210 football pitches.

The fire started in Menderes, İzmir, the day before yesterday and could not be taken under control until yesterday evening. A thousand hectares of land which was burnt down is the same size as 210 football pitches.

Land teams could interfere with the fire which is estimated to have started because of the wind. The fire continued all night and spread to the villages around the region. The villagers had to evacuate their houses and the gendarmerie teams had to close the highway of Menderes- Gümüldür. The road was opened to traffic in the morning.
