Exports by Turkish automotive sector has dropped 56 percent to 882 million USD in January 2009 over the same month previous year.

Uludag Exporters' Association told the A.A on Tuesday that it was the lowest level in the last three years. In the same period previous year, exports from the automotive sector were about 2 billion USD.

In January, Turkey exported automotive products to 11 free zones as well as 128 countries and autonomous regions. France was on top of the list with exports of 155.1 million USD followed by Germany, Italy, Britain and Belgium.

Turkey exported automotive products to Palestine, Djibouti, Gabon, Jamaica, Mauritania, Chad, Maldive Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, North Korea and Liberia for the first time.
