Some cafes and restaurants in shopping centers violate the smoking ban as the number of customers lessened due to the ban in Turkey, Sabah reported.
Executive of a cafe in İstinye said: "Currently, no cafes or restaurants conform to the smoking ban here; however, they do not get any penalty."

Café and restaurant owners chose not to conform to the smoking ban as the number of customers declined sharply after the ban effective on May 19th.

Some cafes and restaurants in shopping centers violated the smoking ban as the number of customers lessened due to the smoking ban. The owners of restaurants and cafes in shopping centers objected to the ban for it creates an unfair competition. Enterprises quitted abiding by the ban in order to retrieve the clients. The executives say the number of customers declined by 50% after the smoking ban.
