Turkey's Deputy PM says HSYK should stay out of political issues

Turkish State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said that they did not have a conflict with the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK).

Delivering a speech at a conference at Halic Congress Center in Istanbul, Arinc said, "we consider that HSYK should do its job and stay out of day-to-day political issues."

Some in judiciary were against the Justice and Development (AK) Party government, he said.

Arinc said, "we never think of intervening in the judiciary. It is wrong."

"Some said that there has been a crisis in Turkey in the recent period and it has been getting worse. Those concerns are not real. No one should be worried," he said.

"We saw several crises in the country. Some of them were caused by former governments," he said.

Arinc said that the government's political will on the democratic initiative should be supported by all people because it was very important for the future of the country.

The government was working to carry the country to a better point in terms of economy and politics, he said.

"Turkey is a very prestigious country in foreign policy. The government's bold and determined attitude played a great role," he said.
