Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan telephoned UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon on Saturday over Israel's missile attack on Gaza, urging him to step in for an effective humanitarian aid and immediate halt of the Israeli aggression.

The UN secretary general expressed his appreciation for Erdogan's efforts and his leadership, calling the Turkish premier to keep using his influence on the sides in order to secure peace and tranquility.
