Turkey's FM congratulates Iran's Ahmadinejad, talks of energy

The Iranian president received Turkish foreign minister on Saturday.

Iran's President Mahmud Ahmadinejad had a meeting with Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu at his office in the capital, Tehran.

Davutoglu is actually paying a formal visit to Iran.

During their meeting, Ahmadinejad said cooperation among regional countries meant stability, peace and development for regional people.

Ahmadinejad said it was "obligatory to improve relations with regional countries, particularly relations between Iran and Turkey."

The Iranian president also said that development of Iran and Turkey was for the best interests of the two peoples, region and world; and two countries should boost their relations and cooperation particularly in energy.

Davutoglu congratulated Ahmadinejad for his re-election as the president, and conveyed Turkish President Abdullah Gul's message.

Also, Davutoglu had a meeting with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani. Davutoglu is expected to meet Saeed Jalili, the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council and chief nuclear negotiator, on Sunday.
