Turkey's FM seeks joint strategic perspective with China ties

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Wednesday that Turkish-Chinese relations had been going through a "historic turning point".

Davutoglu and Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held a press conference after holding a meeting in Istanbul.

"There are several business opportunities between Turkey and China in several areas," Davutoglu said.

"We have to develop a joint strategic perspective in bilateral relations," he said.

Turkey and China, two active members of G-20, could make great contributions to global economic system, Davutoglu said.

We, as two great states, consider that we can also contribute to "humanistic culture", the Turkish foreign minister said.

Davutoglu said, "Turkey and China will have a close cooperation in issues including Afghanistan, the Middle East, Iraq and other matters in Eurasia."

The prime minister of China will also pay a visit to Turkey in the coming period, he said.

Davutoglu said Yang and he also discussed transportation, energy policies and Silk Road railway project in their meeting.

"I hope that China would make comprehensive investments in Turkey and send more tourists," he said.

Davutoglu added, "I believe that Turkish-Chinese relations would boost peace and security."
