Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Thursday, in a fast-breaking dinner hosted for Iraqi Turkmen opinion leaders, that it is Turkey's wish to see the Iraqi Turkmens in unity and solidarity.
According to the web site of the Turkish Presidency, Gul addressed his Iraqi Turkmen guests at the dinner and told them that bad days in Iraq are history.
"I wish that the Iraqi Turkmens reach peace as a society that experienced immense difficulties for long years. There is nothing more normal for Turkey other than extending a hand of assistance to all segments of the Iraqi society," Gul stressed.
It is our wish to see you all in unity and solidarity, Gul told his guests.
Among Gul's guests were the Chairman of the Iraqi Turkmen Front and Deputy Sadettin Ergec, President of the Iraqi Turkmen Assembly Yunus Bayraktar, Secretary General of the Iraqi Turkmens Islamic Union and Deputy Abbas Betyati, Chairman of the Iraqi Turkmen Justice Party Enver Bayraktar and other Turkmen deputies serving in the Iraqi Parliament.
