Turkey's Gul, Erdogan meets Arab envoys over Gaza

Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan had separate meetings on Thursday with ambassadors of Arab countries in Ankara to discuss developments in Gaza.

The two meetings were closed to press.

Omani Ambassador to Turkey Mohammed Al Wahaibi led the group of senior Arab diplomats in Ankara.

At the meeting with Erdogan, Arab diplomats thanked Turkish PM for his government's efforts in the international arena to put an end to tragedy in Gaza and to reach a cease-fire in the region.

Meanwhile, Turkish foreign minister met Thursday with his Arab counterparts at the United Nations over the situation in Gaza, diplomatic sources said.

Foreign Minister Ali Babacan exchanged views on the Israeli offensive with a number of Arab foreign ministers including Saudi Arabia's Al-Faysal bin Abd al-Aziz.

Babacan earlier met with British Secretary of State for Foreign & Commonwealth Affairs David Miliband.
