Turkey's Gul holds phone talks with US Bush on Gaza crisis

Turkish President Abdullah Gul called U.S. President George W. Bush on the phone to discuss Gaza crisis, officials of the president's office said on Saturday.

Gul and Bush discussed short and long-term aspects of the situation in Gaza, officials said.

The two presidents talked about the implementation of ceasefire in Gaza, immediate solution to humanitarian tragedy and post-ceasefire arrangements in the region, officials added.

Israel continues its days-long operations against Gaza despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire and Egyptian-European efforts at mediation.

More than 700 people have been killed and around 3,000 others were injured since the beginning of Israeli offensive against Gaza on December 27, 2008.
